In 2001, with support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the College of Arts and Sciences created new master's degree programs to prepare graduate students for careers in the ever-evolving high-tech arena. These programs are part of a national trend in higher education, introducing Professional Science Master's options in fields of study where only the traditional research degrees were previously offered.
The College of Arts and Sciences continues to work closely with the Moore School of Business, the School of Law, and the School of Journalism and Mass Communications to offer these new professional master's options, which combine studies in a science niche with a professional skills component and an internship, to prepare graduates for careers in science and technology based business.
