Dr. Witherington is the most widely-published evangelical New Testament scholar in the world. His scholarly production includes thirty-one books, including: The Jesus Quest and The Paul Quest, each of which was selected Best Biblical Studies Book of the Year by the journal Christianity Today.
A popular lecturer and an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church, he has presented seminars for churches, colleges and universities and biblical meetings around the world. Along with many radio interviews across the country he has appeared on the History Channel, Discovery Channel, A&E as well as all the major networks
His books include: Jesus the Seer: The Progress of Prophecy and Jesus the Sage: The Pilgrimage of Wisdom. His most recent book is What Have They Done With Jesus? Beyond Strange Theories and Bad History.
The Nadine Beacham and Charlton F. Hall Sr. Lectureship in New Testament Studies and Early Christianity is sponsored by the department of Religious Studies. It is held each year the week before Palm Sunday. In addition to the public lecture, it includes an ecumenical clergy day, and an in-depth discussion with pastors, priests and rabbis from around the state. All events are free and followed by a question and answer session.
