Christy Lohr received her MA in Religious Studies in 1997 from the Department of Religious Studies. She then served for two years as the young adult intern in the US Office of the WCC, where she was involved in young adult programming. She also worked with young adults and seminarians at the WCC's 8th Assembly in Harare, Zimbabwe.
She served as the coordinator of the Multifaith Ministries Education Consortium and it's annual "Institute for Ministry in a Multifaith World". She was
also the Project Director for a global interfaith organization promoting
interreligious dialogue and education, and served on the advisory team
for the Interfaith Youth Core.
Christy is now the coordinator of the Interfaith Education Project, a cooperative initiative of the World Council of Churches and Hartford Seminary and is scheduled to present findings from the project's survey on interfaith education at the WCC's 9th Assembly in Brazil. Christy is the Assistant Editor of the quarterly journal, Reviews in Religion and Theology, and will begin work towards a Phd in Theology at Hartford Seminary this fall.
She serves on the North American Interfaith Network's (NAIN) Board of Directors and as the Grants Manager of the Impact Coalition. The IMPACT Coalition is a nonprofit, mentoring and educational development organization that expands opportunities for urban students, schools and organizational partners by providing debate training, debate curricula, and support services to develop informed, concerned citizens. IMPACT hosted the 2004 annual NAIN Connect in New York and inaugurated the group's first Interfaith Film Festival.
She was selected as the outstanding Alumna for the College of Arts and Sciences at Appalachian State University, where she received her undergraduate degree in the Department of Philosophy and Religion.
