OFFICE OF THE STATE ARCHAEOLOGIST
The Office of the State Archaeologist advises the State Historic Preservation Office, other state and public agencies, and private individuals on compliance related activities; coordinates burial preservation; acts as a liaison to Native American tribal entities; and, supports the advancement of archaeology within the state, region, and nation. In addition to the specific duties of this office, the State Archaeologist, as Head of the Office of the State Archaeologist, oversees four subdivisions.
