Associate Professor Robert Richmond is directing William Shakespeare's Henry VIII at the Folger Theatre, part of Washington, DC's Folger Shakespeare Library, this October.
Nathan Bennett, a 2008 graduate of our MFA acting program, is acting in the production. Also appearing is Anthony Cochrane, a guest actor who starred as the title character in our 2009 main stage production of Cyrano de Bergerac.
The Folger is highly-regarded for its collection of Shakespeare artifacts, considered the largest collection in the world. Since 1992, it has been dedicated to connecting classic theatre works to modern audiences, receiving 44 nominations (and 12 wins) for Helen Hayes awards in the process. Richmond's last directing project at the Folger was the Aquila Shakespeare Company production of Julus Caesar in 2000.
