Department of Theatre and Dance
PRODUCTION PROGRAM
The Department has a production program during the academic year with several
levels of production to satisfy a variety of needs.
The MainStage production program produces at least five plays during
the regular academic year. The MainStage is dedicated to offering a wide range
of genre and styles during a four-year period, including classical and verse
plays, original scripts, musicals as well as contemporary Broadway successes.
Laboratory Theatre productions also give faculty and students opportunities
to work together on specific projects. Laboratory Theatre projects are minimal
"black box" productions.
THEA Showcase is one of the livelier forums for exchanging knowledge
and experiences. The THSP Showcase displays the best of faculty and student
work at semester's end to an invited audience. The Showcase is followed by an
informal reception.
Puppet Regime, a student-activity-funded theatre organization, offers
additional performance opportunities, especially for original and experimental
scripts. Though not directly administered by the Department, many undergraduate
and graduate students participate in this non-credit program.
