Alums Establish a Yahoo-group to Share Experience, Keep in Touch

Some smart alum has set up a Yahoo-group "intended to provide a convenient method for past, present, and future generations of the USC-Columbia theatre community to keep in contact with one another." Find the group at this address: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/usctheatre/

One of the photos pages offers pictures of Darin Dahms and Ben Fitch's recent LA production of Someone To Watch over Me.

You have to join the group to participate but membership is free. You can participate as little or as much as you wish and joining will not expose you to more spam.

Members share personal information and professional leads. One writes about moving to a new city; he's looking for information on neighborhoods and theatre work. Two members, both alums, share pictures of their wedding.

The links page offers connections to job sites, union sites and so on.

The usctheatre group is an perfect example of what the internet can do so well: facilitate communication amongst people in different parts of the world with a shared interest.

Yahoo markets groups as the easiest way for groups of people to communicate on the Internet: stay in touch with friends, family and colleagues; discuss sports, health, news, and more; connect with people who share your interests. Groups are organized by topic and at this writing there are nearly 6,000 groups related to theatre in some way.
