Sociology & Women's Studies
For graduate students in Sociology
at both the Master's and Ph.D. levels, graduate courses in Women's Studies
may be taken as electives or, with the permission of the Graduate Director,
substituted for sociology graduate courses. The discipline of sociology
examines the behavior of people as members of groups as well as the social
organization, knowledge, and other characteristics of the groups themselves.
Since gender, along with race and class, are fundamental factors which
affect social behavior and organization, an understanding of these dynamics
is very useful to sociologists. The Women's Studies program at USC offers
a variety of courses which are of interest to sociology students. A selection
