WRITING IN THE DISCIPLINES
The Writing Center seeks to build knowledge and confidence
in students by reaching out to them in their environments. In order
to meet students where they are, Writing Center staff can arrange
special projects within the disciplines whereby staff meet in small
group workshops to consult with students on ongoing projects. Follow
the link to read more information about the Writing Center's most
recent project in conjunction with the Department
of Biology. If you are interested in coordinating a special
project with the Writing Center, please contact the Director,
Elisabeth Alford.
The Writing Center appreciates the fact that writing
conventions vary across the disciplines. In the interest of providing
the most effective service to students, faculty, and staff in the
disciplines, the Writing Center is developing discipline-specifc
pages to guide writers through an analysis of what is expected of
them in the different writing environments they may encounter. Follow
the link to read an overview of what
it means to write in the disciplines and to learn more about the
conventions that may apply to your own project.
